How the agent works

The five-step loop the agent runs: find, write, send, follow up and triage, and land the link.

Every GenLink agent runs the same loop, over and over, inside your workday. Knowing the five steps tells you what the agent is doing at any moment, what it decides on its own, and where you sit.

Find#

The agent looks for relevant, high-authority sites and the specific pages worth pitching, guided by your brief. It fills a prospect table with rows, one per site or page.

  • What it decides alone: which sites are relevant and worth adding, and how to find contact details.
  • Where you sit: you can shape the search with the brief, seed rows with Find articles or Upload CSV, and remove anything that does not fit.
  • In the UI: rows appear in the table, with status chips like No email when it cannot find an address.

Write#

For each good row, the agent writes a personal pitch. It uses GenLink's outreach playbook plus anything you taught it in the agent's Email copy examples and your Knowledge, tuned to that site. It writes in a real voice; it does not send a template blast.

  • What it decides alone: the angle, the wording, and the subject for each pitch.
  • Where you sit: you read every draft before it can go, and you can edit it or add example emails to teach the voice.
  • In the UI: rows move to Drafts, and you open one to read the email.

Send#

Once you mark a row Ready to send, the agent sends it from your mailbox, inside your limits. Sends are spaced at least 30 minutes apart, stay within the daily cap and the workday, and respect your do-not-send list.

  • What it decides alone: the exact send time inside the workday, within the spacing rules.
  • Where you sit: approval is the gate. Nothing sends without it. You can pause an agent at any time.
  • In the UI: rows move through Sending to Email Sent, and the mailbox counter ticks up.

Follow up and triage#

When a reply comes in, the agent reads it and sorts it by what it means: positive, a question, a meeting request, not interested, an unsubscribe, an auto-reply, or other. It answers the simple ones and brings the rest to you. There is no timed follow-up sequence: if a thread goes quiet, the agent gets one chance to decide whether to nudge. See follow-ups.

  • In the UI: threads show chips like Needs Reply in the inbox.

When a site agrees and adds your link, you close the loop by marking the thread won and recording where the link went live. A daily job also crawls the pages you pitched and pulls fresh backlinks from the index, so wins can be confirmed automatically.

  • What it decides alone: it re-crawls pitched pages and checks the index for live links.
  • Where you sit: you mark a thread won with the live URL when you know a link landed.
  • In the UI: links appear under Backlinks won by your agents in Results, each tagged verified, attributed, or seen in index.
